The equipment used comprises a row of parallel prongs (26) fitted on a holder (24) which is moved vertically by a work machine (20, 22). The holder consists of a plate (24) in which the prongs are accommodated in corresp. holes and the work machine comprises an excavator (20) on the arm (22) of which the holder plate (24) is releasably fitted. On the side of the holder turned away from the prongs, two spaced consoles are fitted, for releasable attachment to the excavator arm (22). Adjustment cylinders are fitted to the prongs which impart a forwards and backwards movement to them. The holder plate (24) is made of steel and has an area of e.g. one sq. metre and the prongs have a length of approximately 30 cms with a cross sectional dimension of e.g. 5 x 30 mm. USE - To construct an earthworks with at least one slope.
