<p>PURPOSE:To perform the tracking control of a magnetic head on a recording track with a high precision by detecting tracking error data from difference data of pilot data, detecting reproducing level error data from sum data, controlling the feed speed of a magnetic tape based on tracking error data and controlling the amplification gain of a reproduced signal based on reproducing level error data. CONSTITUTION:Tracking error data DTTE is detected from difference data between first and second tracking pilot data DTP1 and DTP2 obtained by sampling an envelope signal EATP with a sampling pulse SP, and reproducing level error data DTME is detected from sum data. The feed speed of a magnetic tape 23 is controlled based on tracking error data DTTE, and the amplification gain of the reproduced signal is controlled based or reproducing level error data DTTE. Thus, the variance in reproducing level of magnetic heads 22A and 22B is corrected to perform the tracking control of magnetic heads 22A and 22B on the recording tracking with a high precision.</p> |
