The invention relates to an inadvertent-actuation locking arrangement in fluid dispensers. One problem that the invention overcomes is during non-use a user may inadvertently depress the activating part of the dispenser and thereby effect a discharge of fluid. In order to prevent this the invention has a closure cap which prevents the discharge of fluid. Specifically, the actuating member (54) carries an inadvertent-actuation locking element (104, 36) which is automatically engageable with an inwardly-displaceable portion (100) of the dispenser housing. When an associated closure cap (23) is seated about the discharge end of the dispenser during periods of non-use of the device, the housing portion (100) is inwardly-displaced by the cap into cooperative engagement with the locking element whereby movement of the actuating member (28) out of its first, outlet-closing position - and, accordingly, any release of stored fluid from within the dispenser interior - are prevented. |
