<p>A feed assembly (110) for conducting a rope of a food material into a die plate (104) of a rotary press (100), die plate (104) forming an annular groove (170) and a multitude of axially extending die cavities (126) in communication with the annular groove (170), the rotary press (100) having a multitude of punches (130 and 132) supported for axial reciprocating movement in the die cavities (126), and means to reciprocate the punches to mold a food material in the die cavities into tablets and to eject the tablets from the die cavities, the feed assembly (110) comprising a feed wheel (202) rotatably supported in the press (100) and extending into the annular groove (170) to force a rope of food material from a source thereof, radially inward in said groove (170) and into the die cavities (126).</p> |
