The synchronising ring comprises a paper-based friction lining with oil grooves on an annular body. The grooves (5) are formed by total removal of the lining at the points for the groove function. They are pref. open at one or both ends, and aligned with the ring axis, while one or more peripheral grooves (7) can also be provided. They can be formed in the lining before it is applied to the annular body.
