<p>A water treatment apparatus comprising a tank with an array of vertical aluminium electrodes. When a current is passed through the electrodes, fine gas bubbles generated in the process attract the contaminants forming a floc which floats to the surface of the water and is removed. A preferred electrode arrangement comprised of an upper electrode bank (103) connected to a first terminal, a first lower electrode bank (101) connected to a second terminal, a second lower electrode bank (102) connected to a third terminal. Each lower electrode plate spaced from but located vertically adjacent to an upper electrode plate in an edge to edge relationship, with each lower and its adjacent upper plate forming an electrode pair. Full length electrodes are provided between each pair and connected to a fourth terminal. The apparatus is well suited to low voltage D.C. application. The apparatus may, for example, be operated from solar cells.</p> |
