<p>The improved flow meter (10) has a generally cylindrical first tube (11) with a rod assembly (13) received in the tube (11) and centrally supported therein. The rod portion (29) of the rod assembly (13) has a metering section (35) tapered at a generally uniform rate over at least a portion of its length. An orifice disk (15) has a circular metering aperture (49) positioned generally concentric with the metering section (35). A second embodiment of the flow meter (10) includes inner and outer tubes (11, 57), a magnetized sleeve (53) and a follower (55). The follower (55) is confined for movement between the inner tube (11) and the outer tube (57). The orifice disk (15), sleeve (53) and follower (55) move coincidently and the meter (10) is thereby adapted for use with opaque fluids which would prevent the position of an orifice disk (15) from being observed. The meter (10) may be disassembled and a disk (15) replaced by one having a metering aperture (49) of a different diameter.</p> |
