Bullet proof glass is fitted in the coachwork of a motor vehicle with the aid of a frame (2), of U-shaped cross-section, which fits over the edges of the composite pane (1). The pane (1) and its frame (2) are together pressed into the opening in the coachwork or into the opening in the door and the frame (2) presses against a sealing strip (4). This sealing strip is supported on two edges (5) which lie on a plane (22) which is parallel to the surface (21) of the frame (2) when the frame is in place in the coachwork or door and so provides stable support for the glass.
