The light guide plates of the optical bus system are for internal appts. communication on the circuit board or a semiconductor chip. The optical bus (1) has at least one bus channel (2) in plate shape, to which the radiation inputs and outputs (7) of the subscribers are laterally optically coupled. The coupling points of different bus subscribers, with an optically parallel plate stack, are pref. on a circular, or an elliptical or a polygonal, or an irregular periphery. The bus channel with an optically parallel strip conductor plate may consist of an optically conductive material. At a preset cross sectional profile it has a larger extension in the directions orthogonal to the press sectional surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - For digital circuits, e.g. for computer with interconnection of its modules by optical bus.
