Composition based on saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, comprising: (A) 50 to 99.5 % by weight of a saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, (B) 0.4 to 50 % by weight of a polyolefin resin, (C) 0.1 to 15 % by weight of compatibilising agent defined in the description, the said composition satisfying the relationship <IMAGE> in which M2 and M1 are the melt indices of the polyolefin resin (B) and of the saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (A) respectively, measured at 210 DEG C under a 2160 g load. Use of the composition for the preparation of films with gas-barrier properties capable of being employed especially in packaging.
