PURPOSE:To display the characters of various styles by providing a storage device for storing a character code and an attribute, and a font pattern storage device for storing a character pattern, and controlling an address generator and a shift register. CONSTITUTION:In the case of displaying a character code of an l-th line and an m-th row of a character code area of a storage device 1, an address generator 3 reads out a character code from the storage device 1, generates an address (n) of font pattern data of this character code in a font pattern storage device 2, reads out pattern data, and outputs it to a shift register 4. The pattern data outputted to the shift register 4 is shifted to the left by one bit each, converted serially and displayed on a display screen 5. |
