PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having high recording track density and line recording density by providing an optical recording layer on a substrate and further providing a magnetic recording layer on this optical recording layer. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording layer 3 is provided between a substrate 2 and a magnetic recording layer 4. Usually, the optical recording layer 3 is used for recording information such as servo information and address information except for data information, and these informations are optically read out. Therefore, it is not required to use a part of the data recording area in the magnetic recording layer 4 for recording servo information or address information, which realizes a larger recording capacity. Since the data area and servo area are provided on the same surface of the medium, positioning with high accuracy becomes possible. Thereby, the obtd. medium has high track density and high line density due to small spacing loss. |
