An apparatus for the catalytic treatment of products that contain hydrocarbons, using gases that contain hydrogen that are at an elevated pressure and temperature, the gas and/or vapour currents, including the liquid fractions that are dispersed therein, are carefully mixed prior to being brought into contact with a catalyst bed that is arranged in a column-type fixed bed reactor. In order to avoid the large-volume unevenness in the product that is fed in, which is coarsely mixed with quench gas, the so-called skeins, in particular those that result in part from the unilateral segregation of gas, vapour and liquid in the preceding catalyst bed, are collected into an overall current on a collector base which covers the cross section of the reactor, are passed through an adjacent mixing tube as well as a tubular shell, and then diverted in the reverse direction of flow to enter a spaced located above a distributor system and are thus distributed over the cross section of the reactor with the liquid fractions that have collected on the distributor system, and are finally passed to a catalyst bed that is arranged beneath this. |
