A hardner for a polyurethane eleastomer is produced by reacting at least one of an aromatic amine cpd. of formulas (I) with an acetone in the presence of an acid catalyst to produce a nuclear-substd. 2,2-bis(P-aminophenyl) propane of formula (II), (b) neutralizing (II) with an alkaline soln., and adding a formaldehyde or a formaldehyde cpd., and (c) dehydration-condensing the mixt. In the formulas, R is halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, carboxyl or alkoxy carbonyl; x is 1-3; n is 1-3.
