PURPOSE:To output a musical sound characteristic indication signal corresponding to the intensity of vibration of a string and to control the generation of a musical sound with loudness, timbre, etc., corresponding to the vibration of the string by outputting the musical sound characteristic indication signal corresponding to a string shade position from a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:The musical sound characteristic indication signal which corresponds to the string shade position is outputted from the photodetetor 13. Namely, a light emitting element 12 emits a light beam to at least one string 14. The photodetector 13 is arranged opposite the light emitting means 12, detects the position of the string shade formed when the string 14 is irradiated with the emitted light beam, and outputs the musical sound characteristic indication signal corresponding to the detected string shade position. Consequently, the musical sound characteristic signal corresponding to the intensity of vibration of the string 14 is outputted and the generation of a musical sound is controlled with the loudness, timbre, etc., corresponding to the vibration of the string 14. |
