To kill pathogenic bacteria and rematodes in contaminated soil a sprinkler hose from a portable boiler is laid on the earth surface, and the earth is sprayed with the hot water at over 80 deg.C, while the sprayed area is covered with a tarpaulin or other heat-loss resistant cover. When the temp. at a depth of 20-30 cm has reached a level above an arbitrary value, of eg 55 deg.C. it sprinkling treatment is ended. The cover may also resist air movement in or out. USE/ADVANTAGE - For agricultural ground. Sterilisation is simple and cheap. |
