PURPOSE:To enable the setting of a damping characteristic corresponding to the operating state in a rotary vibration damping device for a motorcycle rear wheel by forming a rotary damper of a rotor and a stator driven by a hydraulic piston hydraulically controlled according to the operating state. CONSTITUTION:During travel, a displacement detector 15 detects the oscillating displacement of a swing arm 1 and outputs it to a controller 19. The controller 19 differentiates a displacement signal, computes the expansion speed of the displacement detector 15, and calculates the oscillating angular velosity omega of the swing arm 1 as well as detects its oscillating direction. The controller 19 then controls a servo valve 17 so that an oil chamber 11 has the specified pressure corresponding to the oscillating direction and angular velosity omega. Torque applied to a rotor 8 by a stator 9B can be thereby controlled with high accuracy. With this constitution, a damping characteristic corresponding to the operating state can be set. |
