PURPOSE:To obtain a porous deodorant generating no falling of catalyst and having excellent deodorizing capacity by freeze-drying the hydrogel obtained from an aqueous solution containing polyvinyl alcohol specified 1n its polymerization degree, iron phthalocyanine carboxylate or cobalt phthalocyanine carboxylate specified in its concn. with respect to polyvinyl alcohol and a basic nitrogen compound specified in its equivalent with respect to the carboxyl group of said carboxylate. CONSTITUTION:Polyvinyl alcohol with an average polymerization degree of 200-5000 and a gelling degree of 98mol.% or more, iron phthalocyanine octacarboxylate 1-25% by wt. of polyvinyl alcohol, aqueous ammonia 0.5 equivalent or more with respect to the carboxyl group of said carboxylate and water are charged in a kneader and kneaded under heating in a hermetically closed state to prepare an aqueous polyvinyl alcohol solution. This polyvinyl alcohol solution is injected in a deep container and cooled to be gelled while this gel is cut into a dice shape to be freeze-dried and the dried one is heat-treated to obtain a porous deodorant. |
