PURPOSE:To increase the reaction rate and to reform methanol in conformity to the purpose by using a catalyst obtained by hot-melt-spray-coating a metal or alloy material with a multiple oxide of copper or zinc and nickel to produce a hydrogen-contg. gas from methanol. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen-contg. gas is produced from methanol or a mixture of methanol and water. A catalyst obtained by hot-melt-spray-coating a metal or alloy material with a multiple oxide of Cu and/or zinc and nickel is used in this method. Since a catalytic component is deposited on the metal or alloy material, the catalyst is excellent in heat transfer. Especially when a heat- transfer tube carrying the catalytic component is used to reform methanol on the catalytic surface of the tube, the heat transfer function and catalytic action are simultaneously exhibited, and methanol is reformed in conformity to the purpose. |
