The invention relates to a device making it possible to break, without effort and without the risk of crushing, the shell of dry fruits, the claws of crustacea and sugar lumps. It consists of an autonomous electric gear motor unit (1), its output shaft (2), a reversing switch (3) controls its rotation, the direction and stopping, a fixed jaw (4), a movable jaw (5), a non-rotating slideway (6), a nut (7) secured to the slideway, on a screw (8) connected to the shaft. Rotation of the shaft brings the movable jaw closer and brings about breaking, controlled by stopping. Return to the starting position is obtained by rotating in the opposite direction. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for opening shelled fruits, the claws of crustacea, breaking sugar lumps, more especially for the elderly or the disabled and children. <IMAGE>
