Protection of articles and surfaces using a filled heat-curable resin. This method of coating frequently exhibits weaknesses in use. The kneading causes bubbles or microbubbles to be produced inside the mixture and, furthermore, the bonding of each of the grains of the filler is not of good quality. Finally, this results in weakening a premature wear of the protection. The objective of the invention to overcome these defects by providing a process of coating whose strength and stability are improved. According to the invention the article to be coated is cleaned and degreased; a surface roughness of the article is produced. Then a) a thin layer of unfilled heat-curable resin is applied; b) this layer is covered, before curing, with a thick layer of filler; c) the resin is allowed to gel partially; d) the components of the filler which have adhered to the resin are removed; e) the above four operations (a, b, c, d) are repeated until the determined coating thickness is obtained.
