PURPOSE:To enable judgment of a tip part or the like contacting an object to be inspected regardless of a curvature value of a bend by detecting the curvature value of the bend and a bending resistance to tell a condition when the bending resistance exceeds a specified value corresponding to the curvature value. CONSTITUTION:A bend manipulation wire 37 is so arranged that a deflection of another chain 33 is read by a retrieval with a bending piece at the tip thereof. An encoder 27 connected to a connecting shaft 25 outputs the rotation of a drive motor 23, for example, as pulse signal, which is inputted into a curvature value detection unit 51 to detect a curvature value of a bend 16. The bending wire 37 has a bending resistance detection plate 39 having a strain gauge 41 stuck thereon interposed therein and as the bend wire 37 is hauled, a kinematic value thereof is inputted into a bending resistance detection unit 52 as electrical signal to detect the bending resistance. The curvature value and the bending resistance detected are inputted into a comparison/computation unit 54 to judge that the bending resistance exceeds a value which is expected naturally to be given by a bending. When it exceeds the value, an operator is informed of the condition by emission of an indicator of a monitor 5.
