The torsional vibration damper has a drive (1) and driven (2) part and at least one spiral spring. One end of the spring is joined to the drive part (1) and the other end to the driven part (2). The spiral spring is positioned in the damping-chamber (3). The drive part (1) has a hub part (7) connected to an engine crankshaft (10), and an outer flange (11). The drive part (2) is sealed against the hub part (7) with an inner flange (12), and against the outer flange (1) with an outer flange (14). USE/ADVANTAGE - The torsional vibration damper has optimum sprung and damping characteristics and is compact.
