PURPOSE:To rapidly recognize a pattern by using a photosensitive material of which transmitting rate and refractive index change according to the intensity of light and optically carrying out Fourier transform when a Fourier-transformed reference image is recorded and a filter is produced. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive material 13 changing the transmitting rate and the refractive index change according to the intensity of light is used. Light of a wavelength lambda1 from a coherent light source 10 is split in two directions by a beam splitter 11. After one direction of the light is expanded by a beam expander 13, it is transmitted through the reference image 14 and converged on the photosensitive material 13 by a Fourier transform lens 15. After the other direction of the light is expanded by a beam expander 23, it is interfered by the photosensitive material 3 and the filter 3 is produced. Then, through the use of light of a wavelength lambda2 from a coherent light source 30, the filter 3 is irradiated with light 37 obtained by optically Fourier-transforming the input image 34, and the input image 34 is compared with the reference image 14. Thus, pattern recognition can be processed at a high speed. |
