The lock is for a seat belt system having a tightening device acting on the lock carrier. It has a lock tongue and locking mechanism, and a release button acting on the locking mechanism. The release button (12) is arranged and secured separately from the movable lock body (11) and is coupled to the locking mechanism (26) of the lock by means of a Bowden cable (35). USE/ADVANTAGE - Safety belt arrangement in which after the completion of the tightening process the release button is in an accessible position for the occupant.
