The appts. for the intra/transluminal shock wave treatment of diseases comprises a generator (4) for the shockwaves (16). The shockwaves are generated by a (quartz) oscillator, operated electromagnetically. The generator is introduced into the body by a natural passageway, and the shockwaves (16) are focussed. The shockwaves may also be generated outside the body and transmitted through a lead (19) contg. an incompressible medium (20) such as water (8) metal bodies. The appts. has an endoscope (1) lens (2) joined by a connector (15) to a holder (3) for the generator, an electric lead (5) to control the generation of the shock waves and a balloon (7) whose size is controlled by water e.g. to couple and press the generator against e.g. the gall bladder (17). USE/ADVANTAGE - The appts. is used as a lithotripter to destroy gallstones.
