Thermal transfer printer with precision retension of print head - has stop frame positioning of print element line and roller axis for automatic position maintenance

A thermal transfer printer has thermoelements arranged in a line (11), a print roller parallel to the line and devices which pass an ink ribbon and recording medium between the print roller (7) and head (9). The print head is forced against the print roller by spring (10) force so that the thermoelement line is in contact with a zenithal print roller line. The print head is held on both sides between stop frames supported on the roller axle againt a stop force. The stop frames define an accurate position between the print element line and roller axis. ADVANTAGE - Print head is automatically aligned w.r.t. print roller even after separation of roller and head or ribbon cassette replacement.
