A method of determining the necessary mixing time for cement involves using a load measurement based on the physical principle of a damped harmonic vibration. The decay constant is used as a measure of the cement homogenisation in the mixture using the relationship: (Zmaxn-Zmaxn-1)/Zmaxn. Alternatively, it can be used as a measure of pressure resistance to describe the homogenisation process. The required mixing period is determined using a mathematical relationship describing a tolerance threshold for cement content fluctuations and is used to control the mixing process. ADVANTAGE - Unnecessarily long mixing times eliminated.
