PURPOSE:To efficiently produce biotins by culturing a biotins-producing bacterium belonging to the genus Bacillus and simultaneously having resistance to N,N',N'',N'''-tetrachloroglycollyl in a prescribed medium. CONSTITUTION:Bacillus sphaericus IFO 3525 is treated with N-methyl-N'-nitro-N- nitrosoguanidine to provide NT-10510 (FERM P-11163) which is biotins-producing bacterium having resistance to N,N',N'',N'''-tetrachloroglycollyl. The NT-10510 is introduced into a normal medium and cultured under shaking-incubation, aerobic submerged stirring incubation, etc., to afford biotins and then biotins are recovered from the medium. Furthermore, the culture temperature is preferably about 20-40 deg.C and pH or medium during culture is preferably maintained to be nearly neutral. |
