PURPOSE:To obtain the title image receiving paper forming a high density recording image and having good user's convenience by specifying the three- dimensional surface roughness of a back coat layer composed of a composition based on a thermoplastic resin and containing white pigment. CONSTITUTION:Image receiving paper for thermal transfer recording is formed by providing an image receiving layer to which a colorant is transferred from a thermal transfer recording ink ribbon to one surface of an image receiving paper support and forming a back coat layer to the other surface thereof. The back coat layer has a composition based on a thermoplastic resin and containing white pigment and the three-dimensional surface roughness SRa thereof is set to 0.2mum or more. By setting the three-dimensional surface roughness SRa to 0.2mum or more, the image receiving paper having excellent characteristics is obtained and, even when a material having high surface smoothness is used as the image receiving paper support, a high density recording image is obtained. When the three-dimensional surface roughness SRa is below 0.2mum, sufficient writing properties can not be secured. By forming the back coat layer from a composition based on the thermoplastic resin and containing the white pigment, the warpage of the image receiving paper support can be prevented. |
