A device for producing gears contains at least some of the following elements: - a gear-cutting machine (10) for cutting tooth flanks (18) on the teeth (19) of a gear (16); - a grinding machine (12) for grinding the cut tooth flanks (18); - a lapping machine (13) for lapping the cut or ground tooth flanks (18); - a coordinate measuring instrument (11) for measuring the cut, ground or lapped tooth flanks (18); - a test machine (13) for testing the contact pattern of these tooth flanks (18); - a gear-cutting computer (14) for controlling the production of the tooth flanks (18); and - floppy disks as connecting means between these elements. According to the invention, some of these elements are combined in circuits which make possible iterative or gradual elimination of gear-cutting errors.
