PURPOSE:To remove hydrogen sulfide effectively even from a high-temperature gas such as coal gasification gas, by using a zirconate as a hydrogen sulfide removing agent. CONSTITUTION:A metal carbonate (such as CaCO3), a nitrate or a metal oxide and ZrO2 are melted by heating, and the resulting zirconate such as calcium zirconate is treated to regulate the particle size. The hydrogen sulfide removing agent thus obtained is contacted with a high-temperature gas such as coal gasification gas under the condition of a fluidized bed or a fixed bed, thereby removing H2S in the gas. After the passage of the gas, air is passed through the fluidized bed or the fixed bed to regenerate the hydrogen sulfide removing agent. The zirconate is stable even at a high temperature of 700-1,000 deg.C and its activity is not lowered during use, so that H2S can be removed at a high temperature.
|
