The invention relates to a process for applying a coating on powdery particles, present in a reactor, in which a fluid bed is formed with these particles, by supplying to the particles a gas comprising the starting material for a coating to be applied on the powdery particles, whereby the powdery particles of alumina and/or silicon carbide, a ceramic coating has been applied of TiN, TiC or SiC, by supplying to the hydrogen comprising gas stream for fluidizing the powder, TiCl4 or SiCl4, in which in order to form the carbide a lower hydrocarbon is added to the gas stream and the temperature of the fluid bed is maintained between 800 and 2000 DEG C. The invention also relates to a process for producing metal objects by mixing steel powder with 2-15 wt.% alumina and/or silicon carbide that is provided with a coating according to the above mentioned process.
|
