PURPOSE:To improve the surface smoothness of image receiving paper, to enhance ink transfer properties and to form a highly detailed recording image having high resolving power by adding calcium carbonate to the ink receiving layer on a paper base material as a pigment component in a form of calcite type globular secondary aggregates. CONSTITUTION:In thermal transfer recording image receiving paper using heat-meltable ink, the ink receiving layer on a paper base material contains calcium carbonate as a pigment component in a form of calcite type globular secondary aggregates. By incorporating calcium carbonate in a form of calcite type globular secondary aggregates, the fixing properties of the transferred ink is enhanced and the forming degree of the protruding parts on the surface of the image receiving paper accompanied by the reception of the ink is suppressed to prevent missing and cutout. The content of calcium carbonate in a form of calcite type globular secondary aggregates is set 40 - 100% by wt. of the pigment component contained in the receiving layer. When the content of calcium carbonate is less than 40wt.%, the oil absorbability of the ink receiving layer is not sufficiently improved and the excellent fixing properties of the ink are not obtained. |
