Thermoplastic elastomers and novel catalyst

Thermoplastic elastomeric polypropylene (and other olefin homopolymerized polymers) use a novel catalyst with a single monomer olefin to produce a chain of alternating stereo regular crystallizable segments and stereo-irregular non- crystallizable polymerized segments, the former acting as physical crosslinks between the non-crystallizable segments to form a thermoplastic elastomeric material having good elastomeric properties. The novel catalyst is rac-ethylidene (1 = eta <5>-tetramethyl cyclopentadienyl) (1- eta <5>-indenyl) dichloro-M where M = Ti, Zr or Hf.
