<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a crack or a chip at the boundary section with a face section and improve the life of a club head by forming nearly the whole face section of a club head main body into a preset thick woven section with a three-dimensional woven fabric, and continuously forming the surrounding of the face section into a foldable thin woven section. CONSTITUTION:A thick woven section 26a made of fiber-reinforced plastics impregnated with matrix resin in a three-dimensional woven fabric 26 is used for nearly the whole face section 24 strongly requiring smoothness in particular, its surrounding is covered by a thick woven section 26b continuously molded with the thick woven section 26a, and they are integrally molded with the fiber-reinforced plastics 25 constituting an iron golf club head main body 21. As fiber reinforcement is allowed in the thickness (t) direction of a face surface, the rigidity of the face section 24 is increased, and the flying characteristic of a ball is improved. Such an accident can be prevented that the matrix resin between lamination layers is broken, fibers are peeled in layers, and a crack or a chip occurs at the boundary section X with the face section 24.</p> |
