The reaction of the organolanthanide complexes ([ eta 5-(CH3)5C5]2MH)2, (M being a lanthanide element) with amino-olefins provides a straight-forward route to a heterocyclic compound. Alternatively, the reaction of olefins with the organolanthanide complex in the presence of an amine results in an aminoalkane.
