Joint in steel furniture construction, where a beam which has been fabricated by the bending of steel plate 13, 14 is joined at right angles to a corresponding beam 11, 12. According to the invention, the ends of the beams are joined together so that they are detachable and without separate locking parts so that, on both sides of the first beam 11, 12, crosswise notches 15, 16 have been made. The second beam 11, 12, fabricated by the bending of steel plate, has its cross section in the form of a C-section channel where both edges have longitudinal flanges 17, 18. When the joint is formed, the second beam 11, 12 is inserted into the notches 15, 16 in the first beam, such that the second beam's C-profile channel encloses the first beam's end, while the edge flanges 17, 18 of the second beam are locked into the notches 15, 16 of the first beam. <IMAGE>
