The subject of the present invention is new 4-methylthiazole derivatives, the process for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions containing them. According to the invention, these derivatives correspond to the general formula: <IMAGE> in which R1 and R2, which are identical or different, are chosen from a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, preferably a methyl or ethyl group, or form, with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, a heterocyclic group optionally comprising another hetero atom, such as, especially, pyrrolidinyl, piperidino, morpholino or piperazinyl; and to their pharmaceutically acceptable salts. Application in neuropsychiatry.
