<p>PURPOSE:To prevent clogging from occurring during the quiescent time of an ink jet printer by incorporating a phosphonic acid and/or the salts thereof. CONSTITUTION:As a phosphonic acid and/or the salts thereof, for example, amino tri(methylene phosphonic acid) or 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid is used. The content of the phosphonic acids in a maintenance liquid is 2.0wt.% or less, and pref. 0.001 - 1.0wt.%. The phosphonic acids have a threshold effect to an inorganic metallic compound. Therefore, the phosphonic acids incorporated in the maintenance liquid for inhibiting the generation of crystalline nuclei of the inorganic metallic compound prevent the adhesion of fine crystals of the inorganic metallic compound to the wall or tip end of a nozzle tube and also the occurrence of satellites.</p> |
