Class 98(1) A mirror reflex camera having also a direct vision viewfinder is provided with a pivoted reflecting element, e.g. a pentagonal prism, arranged above the camera focusing screen to direct an enlarged image of the scene on the focusing screen to the viewfinder eye lens and in its working position obscuring the viewfinder which is unobscured by the reflecting element when the latter is pivoted into an idle position; a photo-electric exposure meter of which the photo-cell is adapted to be moved into and out of a position adjacent to the focusing screen where it receives the light passing through the camera objective; and an adjustable partially transparent additional mirror, the parts being so arranged and connected that on movement of the photocell into its working position the said reflecting element is automatically moved into its idle position and the additional mirror is automatically moved to cross the axis of the viewfinder at 45 degrees so that a reflected image of the dial of the exposure meter is visible in the viewfinder while on return of the photocell to its idle position the additional mirror returns to an idle position clear of the viewfinder and the reflecting element returns to its working position. Preferably means are also provided operated by the camera release independently of the position of the photocell for moving both the reflecting element and the reflex mirror in the path of the rays from the camera objective into idle positions before the shutter is released. As shown, a magnified erect and laterally correct image of a central part of the camera field formed on the focusing screen is reflected by means of a pivoted pentagonal prism 7 to the eye lens 4 which with lenses 5, 6 provides the magnification. When the photo-cell 9 of the exposure meter is slid to the right by means of the arm 8 to cover the lens 6, a pivoted lever 10 is cammed upwardly and raises a pivoted lever 12 on which rests a pin 11a secured to the mounting of the pentagonal prism 7 which is thereby swung out of the field of the direct vision viewfinder formed by the field lens 13 and the eye lens 4. Simultaneously the lug 14 on the photo-cell mounting moves the semi-transparent mirror 15 against spring action across the viewfinder field' so that an image of the photo-cell scale 16b on a right-angled prism 16 is formed by the lens 16a in the finder. The pentagonal prism 7 may also be raised by a pair of levers 19. 21 which are similar to levers 10, 12 and on the latter of which rests a pin 11b on the mount of the penta prism, the lever 19 being raised on the initial movement against a weak spring of the camera release 18, further pressure thereon after the weak spring is compressed causing compression of a stronger spring which moves the shutter trigger.</p> |
