PURPOSE:To mass-produce inexpensively a decorative material having pearly gloss, by a method wherein powder of a pearl oyster shell from which an outer layer part of the shell is removed is mixed with a surface layer part and distributed. CONSTITUTION:A shell 3 is washed with fresh water, to begin with, and salty water and dust stuck to the shell 3 are washed off. With this construction, simultaneously with removal of fishy smell and damage from salt to resin as undermentioned can be prevented. Then only the outer layer part of the unnecessary shell 3 is ground and removed with a rotary grinding machine 4 as shown by the second drawing. Then a shell 5 whose outer layer part 1 is removed is ground with the rotary grinding machine 4 and made into powder of a fixed size. Then the powder 7 of a pearl oyster shell is put into a vessel 6 filled with a resin solution and after putting a curing agent into the solution, they are agitated. Then the resin solution is cast into a mold 8, after the lapse of a fixed time, the powder 7 of the pearl oyster shell is settled at a fixed thickness on the bottom side of the mold 8 with its own weight of the powder 7. Then the resin solution is left behind as it is until the resin solution is cured and a molded material where the powder of the pearl oyster shell is mixed with the bottom of the resin solution and distributed within the same is obtained. |
