PURPOSE:To obtain the subject steel cord, improved in corrosion resistance without deteriorating handling operating efficiency and useful as rubber products such as tires by intertwisting element wires having a specific wire diameter and C content and specifying twisting pitch and average shaping ratio. CONSTITUTION:The objective cord, obtained by intertwisting two element wires and having 0.25-0.35mm wire diameter of the respective element wires, 0.75-0.85wt.% C content, 9.0-16.0mm twisting pitch of the intertwisted steel cord and 105-150% average shaping ratio. Furthermore, the cross-sectional shape faces preferably nearly the same direction and is almost elliptical in the longitudinal direction of the steel cord and the ratio of the major axis (D1) to the minor axis (D2) is preferably 1.1<=D1/D2<=2.2. |
