An open-chamber weapon comprising a rotor (6) for delivering the ammunition to the firing position. The weapon comprises devices (6, 7) for forming a firing chamber around the ammunition during the firing phase, devices (8, 20, 44) for locking the firing chamber during said phase, and devices for unlocking said chamber thereafter in order to facilitate the ejection of the cartridge case even if it has expanded during and/or after the firing phase. The production of quick-firing weapons such as small or medium caliber weapons, in particular machine guns having a high rate of fire for aircraft, is described. |
