Them canoe is fitted with a seat (3), which enables the canoeist to adopt a kneeling position. The seat is fastened at its opposite ends to the side of the canoe. The seat is attached to one side of the canoe by means of a quick release device which is operated by pulling on an attached rope (15). The other end of the seat is hinged to the opposite side of the canoe. The release rope removes retaining pins from the spring-loaded bolts which fasten the seat to the flap fastened to the side of the canoe.
