The folding roof for a vehicle has a wind screen frame (4) with a locking groove (10). The leading edge of the roof frame (5) has a locking strip (6) which slides into the groove. The linkage rods to provide the folding action are arranged to ensure the withdrawal of the strip from the groove before the roof (2) is foled upwards.
