Camshaft is mfd. from separate, prt-mfd. cams which are placed in a casting die, pref. pressure casting die, together with separate bearing rings, in which the shaft is cast. The cams and/or rings can be preheated and the cams can be made of hard, wear-resistant metallic or non-metallic materials. The shaft is pref. cast as a light metal alloy. ADVANTAGE - Cams of dissimilar material can be securely attached to a camshaft.
