The tumbler lock has a bolt (4) which is held in the locking position by the tumber (7) which abuts against the pin (5) attached to the bolt (4). Additional security is provided by a spring-loaded deeper (10) which abuts against the end edge of the bolt (4). When the key (8) is inserted in the lock it rotates the tumbler (7) about the pivot (6) so that the slot (9) in the tumbler is aligned with the pin (5). At the same time the upper edge of the tumbler (7) abuts against the lower edge of the keeper (10) and swings it upwards to align the slot (12) with the projection (11) of the bolt (4).
