The brake is used to tension metal strips or the like drawn off from a winch. It comprises a disc brake unit (2) operable by pressurised medium. The winch (1) is coupled to the output side. Its input side is in driving connection with an AC motor (3). The disc brake device is attached to the pressurised medium supply by an adjustable pressure reducer valve. USE/ADVANTAGE - A continuous current supply is no longer required.
