The invention relates to a method for fixing optical fibres (4) transversely on a carrier (1) in the shape of a plate or sheet, in which on said carrier a layer of an elastic and pierceable material (2) is provided in at least the fixation points of the optical fibres; and in that a fibre is driven into said layer at least up to the interface with the carrier the thickness of the layer of elastic material being chosen sufficiently large for retaining the fibre in this manner. Furthermore the invention relates to a device for executing said method, and to a panel or the like provided in this manner with optical fibres.
